7-week course starting on September 14th - then 21st September, 28th September, 5th October, 12th October, 19th October and 26th October.
Spend 7 weeks building your first comedy set, getting to know how comedy works and meeting a new set of friends. Bring out what is hilarious about you, by working with a small, supportive group of peers and Dec Munro - an award-winning comedy director & co-founder of the Bill Murray. Via the “convenience” of Zoom, you will learn to:
- Discover your comedic persona
- Structure a set
- Write jokes
Dec has worked with comedians including Sofie Hagen, Ellie Taylor, Mawaan Rizwan, Angela Barnes and Andy Hunter-Murray - and prides himself on making comedy a positive experience.
What’s involved
Spend 2 hours every week focusing on a different area of comedy, using discussion and interactive materials. Creative exercises specially tailored for online teaching will help to explore the techniques used by comics for writing and performance looking to get to what’s funny about you. Groups of no more than 8 will allow everyone to get the time and attention they need.
Weekly sessions will end with homework being set, with the opportunity to share your work with the group the following week and get regular, detailed feedback.
Feedback
Throughout the classes you will receive:
- Immediate and interactive feedback
- Personalised feedback on work submitted in advance
- Detailed notes on the topics covered after each session
When you feel ready, you will have the opportunity for a 30-minute one-to-one with your teacher to help craft your first five-minute set into something to feel proud of.
