Week 3: Science and Philosophy
The Bill Murray : Training, Islington, United Kingdom
3-week course starting on 23rd July - then on 30th July and 6th August.
Science, history and philosophy aren’t necessarily the first things people associate with stand-up but exploring big ideas is increasingly a necessary way to make your stand up stand out.
How do you mix something silly with something serious? How do you mix the anecdotal with the theoretical? What joke structures mimic formal arguments and how are you already using them without knowing it? How do you include people in the joke with knowledge of a concept while not losing those who are unfamiliar?
This course includes tips, guidance and feedback for writers, performers and producers. The focus will be in building a set for and live performance or online and broadcast. Advice and guidance on running an academic themed night is also available.
This Masterclass is run by Alex Farrow who is host and producer at the award winning Jericho Comedy (Chortle Top 6 comedy night in the UK 2019).
